## New Features, Enhancements, and Behavior Changes

This section describes new features, enhancements, and behavior changes introduced in this release.

### Configurable Security Algorithms

The Onyx Edge now supports configurable security algorithms for both Non-Access Stratum (NAS) and Radio Access Network (RAN) layers.

#### Configurable NAS Security Algorithms

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable to both 4G and 5G networks.
{% endhint %}

NAS security protects signaling between UE and the core network. The Onyx Edge now supports configuring NAS Integrity and Encryption Algorithm directly in the Onyx Edge configuration.

In 4G networks, supported options include:

* **Integrity Algorithm:**
  * **EIA2** — (Default) 128-AES integrity protection
  * **EIA1** — 128-SNOW 3G integrity protection
* **Encryption Algorithm:**
  * **EEA2** — 128-AES encryption
  * **EEA0** — (Default) Null encryption

In 5G networks, supported options include:

* **Integrity Algorithm:**
  * **NIA2** — (Default) 128-AES integrity protection
  * **NIA1** — 128-SNOW 3G integrity protection
* **Encryption Algorithm:**
  * **NEA2** — (Default) 128-AES encryption
  * **NEA0** — Null encryption

The NAS security algorithms can be configured in Add/Edit Onyx Edge > **Core** tab > **NAS Security Algorithms**.

The Onyx Edge details page > **Overview** tab > **Core** > **NAS Security Algorithms** section displays an Onyx Edge's current NAS Security Algorithm configuration.

In 4G networks:

In 5G networks:

<figure><img src="/files/CRLK9MdSwDYnh3mOKokj" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Selected algorithms apply to all UE connecting through the configured Onyx Edge.

#### Configurable RAN Security Algorithms

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable only to 5G networks.
{% endhint %}

RAN security protects traffic between UE and the RAN. The Onyx Edge now supports configuring RAN Encryption and Integrity Algorithms directly in the Onyx Edge configuration. Supported options include:

* **NEA2/NIA2** — (Default) 128-AES encryption and integrity
* **NEA1/NIA1** — 128-SNOW 3G encryption and integrity
* **NEA0/NIA1** — Null encryption with 128-SNOW 3G integrity

The RAN Security Algorithms can be configured in Add/Edit Onyx Edge > **RAN** tab > **RAN Security Algorithms**.

The Onyx Edge details page > **Overview** tab > **RAN** section displays an Onyx Edge's current RAN Security Algorithm configuration.

Selected algorithms apply to all UE connecting through the configured Onyx Edge.

### RAN Time Sync Configuration

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable only to 5G networks.
{% endhint %}

The Onyx Edge RAN configuration now supports a Timing Source setting, allowing you to specify the time synchronization source.

Available options:

* **FREE\_RUNNING** — Uses internal clock without external time synchronization.
* **GPS** — Synchronizes timing using GPS signals for precise time and frequency references.

This configuration enables you to select the appropriate timing source based on your deployment requirements. GPS synchronization is recommended for production environments to meet 3GPP timing standards and ensure proper inter-cell coordination.

Configure this in Add/Edit Onyx Edge > **RAN** tab > **Timing Source**.

<figure><img src="/files/I96KyLbG94QMUqbaQu66" alt="" width="423"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Onyx Edge details page > **Overview** tab > **RAN** section displays the current Timing Source configuration.

<figure><img src="/files/5Zc22PkFixF35EySOtC0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Onyx Edge Sync Status icon (Onyx Edge details page > **Overview** tab > **Onyx Edge Details** section) now indicates whether the clock synchronization services are running and properly synchronized.

* <img src="/files/rJSY9UGNzbZlPpSIm9Ns" alt="" data-size="line"> **(Green)** — The system is operating normally with the desired timing source.
* <img src="/files/GkUIM8nvlNyIYfwK79OQ" alt="" data-size="line"> **(Red)** — One or more clock services have encountered an error or synchronization failure.

Hovering over the Sync Status icon displays the following details in the info tooltip:

<figure><img src="/files/xvUddwrAY0kRREwW9aU3" alt="" width="138"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Sync status hover details:

* **SyncE State** — Status from the Synchronous Ethernet service
* **PHC State** — Status from the PTP Hardware Clock (PHC) service
* **TS State** — Status from the Time Synchronization (TS) service

## Resolved Issues

The following issues were resolved in this release.

* **Uplink Throughput Display** — When running throughput tests using the GXC Per-Subscriber Speed Test feature, the Onyx Portal Analytics "Average Uplink Throughput" plot report displayed incorrect uplink throughput due to uplink traffic getting excluded from uplink calculations.
* **High UL BLER on Multi-Port Radios** — (5G only) When the Multi-Port Support feature is enabled, one set of antennas gets high UL BLER. UE connected to ports 2 or 3 of the radio may see high uplink BLER (\~10%), leading to reduced throughput.
* **PTP/Clock Sync Not Locked on N77 with FHM** — (5G only) On G506\_N77 AP connected via FHM, PTP does not lock, and the radio does not radiate.

## Open Issues

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** Open issues reported in previous releases, unless subsequently reported as resolved, may exist in this release.
{% endhint %}

There are no new open issues reported in this release.
