## New Features, Enhancements, and Behavior Changes

This section describes new features, enhancements, and behavior changes introduced in this release.

### Multi-Port Attach Support

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable only to 5G Onyx Edge (NR+Core) deployments.
{% endhint %}

This release introduces enhanced Distributed Unit (DU) configuration and scheduling logic enabling User Equipment (UE) to successfully attach through any active gNodeB transmission port, significantly improving network coverage and connection success rates.

This enhancement extends multi-port capability across all critical 5G channels including SIB1, DCI\_1\_0, PRACH, PUSCH, and Msg3, allowing UE to dynamically select the best available transmission port instead of being restricted to specific ports. This change addresses previous limitations that could result in coverage gaps and unnecessary attachment failures in multi-antenna deployments.

The Multi-Port Attach can be enabled/disabled in the Onyx Edge > RAN configuration. It is disabled by default.

Onyx Portal Context: **Equipment** > **Onyx Edge** tab > **Add/Edit Onyx Edge** page > **RAN** tab

Multi-Port Attach configuration status can be viewed in the Onyx Portal details page.

### New Slot Pattern

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable only to 5G networks.
{% endhint %}

This release supports a new uplink-optimized DL/UL Distribution Slot Pattern: 27% DL, 71% UL (DDSUUUUUUU). This pattern allocates approximately 27% of subframes within each radio frame for downlink transmission and the remaining 71% for uplink transmission, ideal for IoT deployments, video surveillance, and industrial monitoring applications with uplink-heavy traffic patterns.

### Onyx Edge Action Controls

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable to both 4G and 5G networks.
{% endhint %}

Onyx Portal administrator users can now run the following operational commands on the Onyx Edge from the Onyx Portal interface.

Onyx Portal Context: **Equipment** > **Onyx Edge** tab > Onyx Edge details page > **Actions**

* **Upgrade** — Upgrade the Onyx Edge's software version; move the Onyx Edge to the target upgrade group.
* **Reboot Onyx Edge** — Reboot the Onyx Edge.
* **Restart Services on Onyx Edge** — Restart the Onyx Edge's core services.
* **Ping** — Ping the Onyx Edge's host.
* **(4G only) Reboot AP** — Reboot all or a specific AP.
* **Detach Subscriber** — Forcibly detach an active subscriber/UE.
* **Force Config Sync** — Trigger a full configuration synchronization.
* **Force Subscriber Config Sync** — Trigger a configuration synchronization for a specific subscriber.
* **Trigger Debug Information Collection** — Collect logs and telemetry from the Onyx Edge.
* **List Debug Information Files in OE** — View downloadable debug files available on the Onyx Edge.
* **Generic Command** — Run generic commands on the Onyx Edge.

### Per-Subscriber Speed Test

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This change is applicable to both 4G and 5G networks.
{% endhint %}

This release introduces a per-subscriber speed test capability, allowing UE connected to the Onyx Edge Core to measure the health and performance of their local 4G/5G radio network. Independent of the Onyx Edge's backhaul connection, the feature enables operators and subscribers to accurately validate uplink/downlink radio performance and health at the edge.

The feature uses OpenSpeedtest, an open-source tool deployed as a server on the Onyx Edge. UE with browser support can access the service by navigating to [http://uespeedtest.gxc.io](http://uespeedtest.gxc.io/) and starting a test directly in the browser.

For CPE/UE without browser support, an iPerf server is also provided on the Onyx Edge for command-line testing.

The customer site firewall must allow pulling the OpenSpeedtest container from the internet. For Onyx Edge staged with version 3.1.2, the container is already included, requiring no additional firewall configuration.

## Resolved Issues

The following issues were resolved in this release.

### **Subscriber Data Usage Graph Discrepancies**

In the **Subscribers** > **Subscriber** tab > subscriber details page > **Data Usage** section, the graph representation shows discrepancies when the "Last 15 minutes" and "Last 30 minutes" options are selected.

### **AP Does Not Support TLS on its Management Interface**

Without TLS support, APs send all configurations, logs, and statistics to the Onyx Edge in clear-text format. In the case of on-cloud Onyx Edge, the clear-text information is sent over the internet. Note that IPSec only covers the S1 interface.

## Open Issues

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** Open issues reported in previous releases, unless subsequently reported as resolved, may exist in this release.
{% endhint %}

### **Uplink Throughput Display**

When running throughput tests using the GXC Per-Subscriber Speed Test feature, the Onyx Portal Analytics "Average Uplink Throughput" plot report may display incorrect uplink throughput due to uplink traffic getting excluded from uplink calculations.

**Workaround:** None. This issue is under investigation and will be addressed in an upcoming release.
