# Wall Mounting

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** It is recommended that the installation of the Onyx FHM onto a wall be done by two trained professionals. One individual should hold the equipment in position on the wall while the other secures it in place.
{% endhint %}

The Onyx FHM can also be mounted on a wall. If wall mounting of the product is preferred, please follow the following steps for installation.

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** Illustrations are for reference purposes only. Actual scenario and equipment may differ. Screws for rack posts not included.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Place the rack mount bracket onto the left or right side of the equipment in the orientation shown below. Align the holes of the rack mount bracket with the holes provided on the right and left side of the case. It is suggested to use the threaded hole pattern located at the center of the front-to-back edge to balance the wall-mounted unit.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Insert and secure the rack mount bracket using 4 pcs. of the M4, 6.5mm Long Screws provided with the rack mount bracket. Torque the M4 Screws to 20 in-lbs. (2.3 Nm) +/- 10% using a #2 Phillips Bit and Torque Driver.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for second rack mount bracket on opposite side of the Onyx FHM.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Determine which direction the ports of the Onyx FHM should be facing on the wall for most efficient routing to related equipment. The front and back faces of the unit should face either left or right when wall mounting the Onyx FHM. The rack mounting brackets should be directly above and below the unit.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Holding the Onyx FHM in the position and orientation desired on the wall, use a pencil or marker to mark the 4 obround holes of the rack mounting brackets on the wall. Once marked, remove the unit and set aside.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Using a 6mm Drill Bit and a Drill Driver (plaster/lathe or drywall) or Percussion Drill (concrete), drill 30mm deep holes into wall at center of marked locations.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Insert 4 pcs of 6mm Diameter, 25mm Long Plastic Anchors included with the unit into the 6mm holes drilled into the wall. Insertion may require light tapping of the anchor using a hammer.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Hold the Onyx FHM on the wall aligning the obrounds of the mounting brackets with the holes and insert 4 pcs. of the M4, 25mm Long Screws through the mounting bracket and into the anchors (see *Figure: Insertion of Wall Anchors and Screws to Mount Onyx FHM*). Tighten M4 Screws until flush with the mounting bracket and tighten no more than 1 additional revolution.

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** Do not overtighten M4 Screws into wall anchors. Overtightening can lead to a reduction in the retention strength of the anchor into the wall.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.gxc.io/hw/5g/5g-fronthaul-multiplexer/fhm-hardware-installation-guide/wall-mounting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
