# Rack Chassis Mounting

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** It is recommended that the installation of the Onyx FHM into a network rack or chassis be done by two trained professionals. One individual should hold the equipment in position on the rack while the other secures it in place.
{% endhint %}

The Onyx FHM is typically installed in an EIA 19-inch rack or chassis. The following steps detail this installation application.

**NOTE:** Illustrations are for reference purposes only. Actual scenario and equipment may differ. Screws for rack posts not included.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Secure the Rack Mount Brackets onto the equipment. Align the rack mount brackets with the holes provided on the right and left sides of the Onyx FHM Chassis and secure the brackets using 8 pcs. of the M4, 6.5mm Long screws provided with the unit using #2 Phillips Screwdriver. Torque screws to 20 in-lbs. (2.3 Nm) +/- 10%.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Identify the unit slot where the Onyx FHM will be installed in the selected rack or chassis. As applicable, mark fastener location or install clip / cage nuts in fastener location. Verify that selected fastener locations are level between left and right posts of the rack or chassis.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Using assistance (2nd person) or a 19” equipment lift (if available), lift the Onyx FHM chassis and insert it into the rack, centering the fastener holes with those marked in the earlier step.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Install and torque rack/chassis mounting screws per the rack/chassis manufacturer’s specifications.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.gxc.io/hw/5g/5g-fronthaul-multiplexer/fhm-hardware-installation-guide/rack-chassis-mounting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
