# Manage FHM

The FHM (Fronthaul Manager) is a component in the Onyx 5G architecture that manages the fronthaul connections between the APs and the Onyx Edge (Core). It helps handle data transmission, synchronization, and resource allocation for efficient 5G network operations.

### View Summary Details of All FHM

**To view the summary details of all FHM configured in a 5G network:**

The **Equipment** page > **FHM** tab displays the summary details of all FHM configured in the network.

* **FHM (n)** – The count of FHMs configured in the network.
  * **Name** – The FHM's name.
  * **Serial Number** – The FHM equipment's vendor-assigned serial number. Click to view the FHM's details.

  * **Access Point** – The number of APs associated with the FHM.
  * **Online Status** – Indicates the FHM's online status, which is determined by its reachability from the Onyx Portal.

    * **Access Point** – Name of individual AP.
    * **Interface** – Ethernet port used for the fronthaul link.
    * **Passthrough** – Indicates whether fronthaul passthrough is active (true or false).
  * **Sync Status** – Indicates the FHM's sync status.
  * **Actions** – Options to view details, edit, and delete an FHM.

### View an FHM's Details

**To view details of an FHM in a 5G network:**

The ***\<FHM name>*** page displays the FHM's details.

The FHM's health status:

* **Online** – Indicates the FHM's online status, determined by its reachability from the Onyx Portal.

  * Value of the timing status
  * IN\_SYNC if true
  * LATE/EARLY if false
* **Onyx Edge** – The associated Onyx Edge.
* **FHM Properties**
  * **Model** – The FHM equipment's model—GXC-FHM-001.
  * **Software Version** – The FHM's current software version.
  * **Up Time** – The time duration since the FHM was last restarted. For example, 2d 10h 17m 58s.
  * **Reported Time** – Timestamp of the last update received from the FHM.
* **Associated Access Points** – Details of APs connected to the FHM.
  * Service Status – Indicates the AP's service status.

    Hovering over the Sync Status icon displays detailed synchronization states:

    * **PTP** – Precision Time Protocol – Indicates whether time synchronization is locked or unlocked.
    * **SyncE** – Synchronous Ethernet – Indicates whether frequency synchronization is locked or unlocked.
  * **Fiber Length (km)** — Length of fiber cable used to connect this AP to the FHM, in kilometers. The system uses this parameter to automatically calculate and apply RU transmit delay compensation, improving timing alignment across RUs connected via different fiber lengths.
* **Subscribers** — Details of all subscribers connected through every AP associated with the FHM.
  * **Status** — The subscriber's current session state.
  * **Name** — The subscriber account's name.
  * **IMSI** — The subscriber's IMSI — a unique identifier assigned to each subscriber SIM.
  * **Subscriber Group Name** — The subscriber group to which the subscriber belongs.
  * **gNB ID/Cell ID** — The gNB ID/Cell ID top which the subscriber is associated. Click to view the corresponding AP details page.

**NOTE:** When an AP is directly associated with an Onyx Edge, details of subscribers connected to that AP are displayed in the AP's Details page. For APs associated with an FHM, subscriber details are displayed only in the FHM details page.

Click the **Events & Alerts** tab.

The **Events & Alerts** tab displays the following details.

* **Alerts** panel
  * A filter dropdown allows alerts to be filtered by status. If no alerts are present, the panel displays "No Records Found".
  * **Date** — The date and time the alert was raised.
  * **Status** — The alert's current status.
  * **Alert Name** — The alert's name.
  * **Severity** — The alert's severity level.
* **Events** panel
  * A date and time range selector at the top of the Events panel filters events by time window.
  * The Module and Event Type columns include filter controls, and the Entity column includes a search control.
  * **Timestamp** — The date and time the event occurred.
  * **Module** — The system module that generated the event.
  * **Event Type** — The type of event, such as device\_configuration\_updated, device\_connected, device\_disconnected, etc.
  * **Entity** — The vendor-assigned serial number of the FHM equipment associated with the event.
  * **Event Description** — A plain-language description of the event.
  * To access additional event details, click the corresponding view details icon.

## Add FHM

**To add an FHM:**

The **Equipment** page > **FHM** tab displays the summary details of all FHM configured in the network.

In the upper-right corner of the page, click **Add Node** > **Add FHM**.

The **Create FHM** page is displayed.

Enter the following details:

* **Name** – (Required) The FHM's name. The name must be unique and must be an alphanumeric string of up to 32 characters.
* **Serial Number** – (Required) The FHM equipment's vendor-assigned serial number. The serial number must be an alphanumeric string of up to 32 characters and may include the "-" (hyphen) character.
* **MAC Address** – (Required) The FHM's MAC address.
* **Device Class** – (Required) Click to select the FHM equipment's model.
* **Selected RU Configuration** – Select the APs to associate with the FHM. You can only associate free unassociated APs.
* **Fiber Length (km)** – The fiber length between each AP and this FHM. The system uses  \
  these values to automatically calculate and apply AP transmit delay compensation,  \
  improving timing alignment across APs connected via different fiber lengths. Enter a positive numeric value up to two decimal places (e.g., 0.25, 3.50).

## Edit FHM

For the FHM that you want to edit, in the **Actions** column, click the corresponding ⋮ (options) icon, then click **Edit**.

Edit the following details as required.

* **Name** – (Required) The FHM's name.
* **Serial Number** – (Read-only) The FHM equipment's vendor-assigned serial number. This field cannot be modified after the FHM is created.
* **MAC Address** – (Read-only) The FHM's MAC address. This field cannot be modified after the FHM is created.
* **Device Class** – (Read-only) The FHM equipment's model. This field cannot be modified after the FHM is created.
* **Selected RU Configuration** – Select the APs to associate with the FHM. You can only associate free unassociated APs.
* **Fiber Length (km)** – The fiber length between each AP and this FHM. The system uses  \
  these values to automatically calculate and apply AP transmit delay compensation,  \
  improving timing alignment across APs connected via different fiber lengths. Enter a positive numeric value up to two decimal places (e.g.,  &#x20;0.25, 3.50). Changes to fiber length trigger a configuration update to the Onyx Edge, ensuring compensation is applied immediately.

To save your edits, in the upper-right corner of the page, click **Save FHM**.

## Reboot FHM

**NOTE:** You can reboot FHMs only if you are a Super Administrator or an Administrator.

**To reboot an FHM:**

In the navigation pane, click **Equipment** > **FHM** tab.

The **Equipment** page > **FHM** tab displays the summary details of all FHMs configured in the network.

Click the Serial Number of the FHM that you want to reboot.

The ***\<FHM name>*** page displays the FHM's details.

In the upper-right corner of the page, click **Actions**, then click **Reboot**.

A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

## Delete FHM

**NOTE:** You can delete FHMs only if you are a GXC Administrator, Partner Administrator, Super Administrator, or an Administrator.
